Through the Wall
Reflections on Leadership, Love and Survival
Anna Bligh
Anna Bligh knows something of the school of hard knocks: she was raised by a single mother in the working class Gold Coast; she spent over 17 years in the rough and tumble of the Queensland Parliament (seven of them as either Deputy Premier or Premier); she's experienced the difficulties and vicissitudes of being a woman in power; in 2011 she led Queensland through the devastation of the floods; she lost the election in 2012 and stepped down to start a new life, only to find herself diagnosed with cancer. Writing about what she calls 'the learning', she talks about the lessons she's learned in her life, about power and leadership; about being a working mother; about compassion, community, family and love. This will be a memoir that will show us how we can all overcome adversity, prejudice, failings, mistakes, illness; how we can use these times to restructure, remake or realign our lives; how something negative can be made into a positive; and why love and family are so important. How we fall, but how we get back up again.
