In this seminal work, the authors present an original theory of the special dynamics of the slum family-its structure and internal processes, the communicative and affective styles of its members - and marshal an abundance of empirical data in support of their conclusions: extensive excerpts from family-treatment sessions, detailed descriptions of behavioral and projective techniques, and content analysis of verbal expression.
